I understand that one of the characters is a writer or aspires to be one, but it was a bit too lyrical where it shouldn’t be. What put me off was sometimes the language turned out a bit too flowery for a horror novel for me. I liked that it felt like I was reading two books at a time because aside from the main story being narrated via conversations, there was also a novella being shared in this story and I loved the novella in this one! It was so intense and grotesque and kind of confusing, but it was really good. There were some parts of this book that was confusing at first, but everything made sense in the end.
